The Clermont Foundation has received funding for a $515,000 project to rehabilitate three historic buildings at Clermont Farm in Clarke County. This project includes a grant of $472,000 from the National Park Service, $10,000 in match, and $33,000 of in-kind archaeology services from the Virginia Department of Historic Resource, according to Bob Stieg, CEO of the Foundation.

The buildings include the Owners House (1755-56), the Smoke House (1803), and the Spring House (1857).

Norma Johnson, president of the Clermont Foundation, said that “This grant will enable us to both preserve these buildings for the future and make them more accessible to the public.” The grant-funded work will provide opportunities for the public to see archaeology and historic preservation being carried out and discussed.
