PUBLIC EVENTS AT CLERMONT

Clermont Farm has an extensive schedule of non-public events in partnership with public schools (students), with the Virginia Cooperative Extension (working farmers) and other regional organizations such as the Beekeepers of the Northern Shenandoah (training beeyard and classes for novice beekeepers). Clermont is also open by appointment to the general public for tours for individuals or groups (email mlrhodes@clermontfarm.org or phone 540-955-0102). In addition, the Farm holds scheduled events to which the public is cordially invited. In 2023 these include, among others to be announced:

SEPTEMBER

WALKING TOUR OF NATIONAL PARK SERVICE REHAB GRANT PLANS FOR 3 HISTORIC BUILDINGS
Date: Saturday, September 16 (Cost: $10 per head, cash or credit card, pay at event)
Time: 10:00-11:30
Activity: Meet Ken Livingston of Main Street Architecture, who will give a behind-the-scenes tour of plans to rebuild the 18th century porches on the Owner House, the foundations of the 1803 Smokehouse, and the stone and log 1857 Springhouse. If you're interested in knowing more or asking questions about how 18th and 19th century brick, stone, timber-frame, and log construction was actually built, and how it is rehabbed, this is a rare opportunity to have a hands-on tour with an expert.

UNITED WAY VOLUNTEER DAY OF CARING:

OCTOBER

FALL NATIVE PLANT SALE AND COMMUNITY DAY:
Date: Sunday, October 8 (Cost: $5 per car, cash or credit card) Time: 9:00-3:00 Activity: Come to a relaxed Fall Native Plant sale (best time to plant), with talks on plants and conservation practices, tours. Opportunity to buy NATIVE plants from specialized sellers in region.
